In plain words
- Parents have accounts. Kids do not.
- Your household’s school lives on our servers so every device stays in sync.
- We do not sell data. We do not run ads. We do not ship analytics SDKs.
- Kid mode has no purchase UI and no links out to the open web.
- You can delete your account in the app, or email [email protected].
Who we are
Sunhouse is operated by Evok Media Group LLC. Contact: [email protected].
Who the service is for
The Apple account holder is a parent or caregiver. Children use the app through that household. We do not create child accounts and we do not condition the kid experience on ads or tracking. We intend this to be COPPA-conscious: no kid purchase UI, no external links in kid mode, no engagement notifications to kids, no leaderboards.
What we collect
| Kind | Why |
|---|---|
| Parent email + password (hashed via our auth provider) | Sign-in |
| Household name, children’s first names, grades, reading levels, optional profile notes and photos | Run the homeschool |
| Books, lessons, check-offs, chores, snacks, projects, notes, worksheets, attendance | The product |
| Optional: homeschool affidavit / notice-of-intent files you upload | So both parents can find them |
| Optional community profile (display name, photo, bio — not your household name or email) | Forum + marketplace |
| Optional marketplace plans and co-op class details (class name, time, place, first names of enrolled kids) | Those features |
| Face ID / Touch ID | Stays on device; we never see the biometric |
| Camera / photos | Contents pages, profiles, worksheets, project journals — when you choose |
| Microphone | Only while you hold the talk button, to turn speech into items on device |
| Location (when in use) | Field-trip suggestions near you |
| Calendar write | A calendar named “Sunhouse” only; we do not read your other events to train anything |
| Optional AI API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI) | Stored in the device Keychain (may sync via iCloud Keychain). Not uploaded as household data. Wiping the house does not delete the key. |
| StoreKit receipts | To know whether your household subscription is active |
Where it lives
Household data is stored with Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Realtime, Storage) in us-east-1. Access is scoped by household membership (row-level security). Sync uses an encrypted connection. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by that host. A device keeps an offline copy of the current plan and queues check-offs when the network is gone.
What we do not do
No advertising SDKs. No third-party analytics SDKs. No selling or “mining” household schoolwork. No sharing kids’ work with other families unless a parent uses Community, Marketplace, or Co-op.
Apple Intelligence and other AI
Default Hazel uses Apple Intelligence on the device (and Apple’s Private Cloud Compute when Apple routes it). Optional keys you paste are your contract with that provider. We do not require a key. We do not use household lessons to train a Sunhouse model.
YouTube
If a parent assigns a YouTube link, the kid watches through a locked no-cookie embed. That is Google’s player, with YouTube’s own privacy terms.
Community & marketplace
Posts and plans are visible to other signed-in families. You agree to the house rules first: be kind; no spam; no selling outside the marketplace; nothing hateful, harassing, or explicit. Long-press to report (reviewed within 24 hours) or block a family (hides them everywhere, immediately). We may remove content and people who break the rules.
Retention & deletion
We keep household data while the account is open. You can delete your account in the app: open House / Mornings and choose delete account. You can also email [email protected] from the address you signed in with and we will delete the household. Sign-out is in Settings. Co-parent codes expire in 7 days.
App Store privacy label
Data Linked to You: User Content. Not “Data Not Collected” — there is a server. Still zero ads, zero trackers.
Children
We do not knowingly market to children as account holders. Parents are responsible for the household. Kid PIN locks are a sibling latch, not a security guarantee.
Changes
We will update this page and the date above when practices change.
